REITZ MINE

Pursuant to the “Noncoal Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act” and the “Clean Streams Law” notice is hereby given that Glen-Gery Corporation, 1166 Spring Street, PO Box 7001, Wyomissing, PA, 19610 has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to renew NPDES permit PA0242144 on existing surface mining permit no. 33020303. The mine site is located in Oliver Township, Jefferson County and is known as the Reitz Mine. Receiving streams for the permit are unnamed tributaries to Little Sandy Creek (CWF) and Little Sandy Creek (CWF).

The permit area is 129.6 acres and is situated east and west of Alcorn Road (T-333), north of Keefer Road (T-393), and southwest of PA Route 36 on the lands of Glen Gery Corporation.

A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Jefferson County Conservation District, 1514 Route 28, Brookville, PA 15825.

Written comments, objections, or a request for public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the DEP, Knox District Office, White Memorial Building, PO Box 669, Knox, PA 16232 within 30 days following the date of the last (i.e. 4th) publication of this notice and must include the person’s name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
