No news oninjection well

Friday, February 3, 2012

The Brady Township supervisors listened to an update on a proposed injection well near Highland Street Extension in the township. Marianne Atkinson said so far the company proposing the site to dispose of contaminated water used in drilling Marcellus Shale gas wells has not submitted applications to either the state Department of Environmental Protection or the federal Environmental Protection Agency. Both bureaus need to issue permits for an injection well.
According to Supervisor Darryl Beatty, local legislators have told him the township will be told and given a chance to comment before any such permits are issued. Right now, Beatty said, the project appears to be "in limbo."
