Tuesday, February 7, 2012
An Emporium man died in a one-vehicle accident Sunday.
Emporium-based state police say Donald J. Selb, 65, 2340 Route 46, Emporium, was killed in the mishap, which occurred on Route 46 north of Rich Valley Road in Shippen Township, Cameron County, shortly before noon Sunday.
Selb was driving a red 1996 Dodge Dakota 4x4 pickup north. As he tried to negotiate a curve, the truck drifted off the road along the west berm. The front of the vehicle hit and climbed an embankment, then rolled onto its passenger's side and hit the road. The vehicle spun counter-clockwise and came to rest on the passenger's side.
Selb was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Cameron County Coroner Theodore L. Walters.
Police were assisted by Emporium Fire Department Engine 141 Rescue, members of Emporium Ambulance, Shippen Township Emergency Medical Services Coordinator Craig W. Hudson, Trooper Douglas Homan, Cpl. Bret Martz and Ramsey's Garage in Emporium.
The investigation continues.
