Mary Christmas O'Harah Sprankle, 87, East Massachusetts Avenue, Southern Pines, N.C., died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, in First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, N.C.
She was the daughter of the late John F. and Florence B. Thompson O'Harah.
Mary was a member of the Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines. She was a beloved homemaker and mother who put her family and friends before herself.
Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, James A. Sprankle; three sons: H. Dale Gilhousen and wife, Deborah, East Bend, N.C., Ray A. Sprankle and wife, Tracy, Augusta, Ga., and Jay A. Sprankle and wife, Catherine, Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Norma Jean Miller and husband, Johnny, Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Caroline N. Reed and husband, Charles E., Reynoldsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary P. Duggins; three brothers: Alvin, Robert and Dale O'Harah; and four sisters: Jean Snyder, Virginia Long, Jane Tobias and Esther Jewell.
Friends will be received Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Les Hutchins. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery, Knoxdale.
