The McTeachers Night was held recently and involved the Wasson Elementary teachers working from 5-8 p.m. at the DuBois McDonalds. It was a fun night for the teachers working side by side with the staff. They greeted and waited on their students and other customers. They raised $1,174.72 with the 15 percent in sales, tips, and drawings.


Thirteen residents of the DuBois Nursing Home were recently honored for their volunteer service in recognition of National Volunteer Week, April 7-13. All residents completed a 10-hour training session to become Pennsylvania Empowered Expert Residents with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s Ombudsman Program. They learned to advocate for themselves and their fellow residents and concluded a minimum of one year’s service at DNH. Pictured from left, first row, are PEERs Bob Roush, Joanna Frederick, A. The St. Marys Rotary Club welcomed Flip and Susie Bobenreith from St. Marys Monuments. Flip and Susie talked about their business and answered questions from the members. They were the guests of Rotarian Bo Cappiello, and are pictured with Cappiello and club President Betty Kruger.

AARP Foundation tax volunteers, Jim Carlson, Don Airgood and Jerry Sorg, have survived another tax season. They have been dedicated to volunteering their services to low- and moderate-income individuals age 50 and older population for seven weeks at the Bennetts Valley Senior Center. The center expressed appreciation to them for serving the community.


Troop 26624 learned how to blow out eggs, clean them, and decorate them for the Bennetts Valley Senior Center tables in Weedville. Scouts included Jolene Rippey, Lindsey Kunes, Georgia Barnhart, Taylor Hogt, Hazel Maholtz, Jayla Jacobus, Haylie Gerber and Carly Miller. Leaders included Debbie Rippey, Michele Kunes and Nicole Barnhart.
