Verda Evelyn Shaffer, 81, 1978 Hazen-Richardsville Road, Brookville, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Brookville Hospital.
Born April 29, 1930, in Brookville, she was a daughter of the late Doyle Stewart and Ethel Bedeil Stewart. She was married to Robert V. "Bob" Shaffer Jan. 20, 1956, in Hazen. He preceded her in death May 21, 2003.
She was a homemaker and had been employed at Sylvania in Brookville.
She was a member of Richardsville United Methodist Church, Brookville. She was also a member of the Ladies Aide Society and was involved with church activities and playing the piano.
She enjoyed gardening and baking.
She is survived by one son, Floyd A. Shaffer, Brookville; one daughter, Judy D. (Dennis) Truesdale, Brookville; two sisters, Helen Zygai and Mary (James) Heilbrun, both of Brookville; and four grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, John Stewart.
Friends were received at McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Henderson officiating. Burial was in Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Township, Jefferson County. Memorial donations may be made to Richardsville United Methodist Church, 57 Allens Mills Road, Brookville, PA 15825.
