Kenneth Lee Mottern

Kenneth Lee Mottern, 89, Sprankle Mills, died Monday, February 20, 2012, at Mahoning Riverside Manor, Punxsutawney.
He was born on June 11, 1922, a son of the late Jeremiah "Jerry" Mottern and Lulu (Caylor) Mottern.
On May 24, 1948 he married his wife of 50 years, Helen (Nolph) Mottern, who preceded him in death in 1998.
He was born, raised, and lived his entire life around the Sprankle Mills area.
He served in WWII as a member of the 101st Airborne division where he received a Purple Heart for being wounded at the Battle of the Bulge.
He worked for years hauling milk with his brother and later worked as a supervisor for the Apollo Gas Corporation.
He is survived by his son Jerry Mottern of Olean, NY and by his loving companion Doris Kunselman of Ringgold, PA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a brother Ernest Mottern.
Friends were received Wednesday, February 22, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 22, at the funeral home with Reverend Brett Swanson officiating. Interment will be private at St. John's cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Mottern's memory to the St. John's Cemetery Association.
