Mervin T. Martz

Mervin T. Martz, 82, of Mayport, died February 21, 2012 at the Brookville Hospital.
Born October 27, 1929 in Worthville, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Nellie J. Richards Martz.
Mr. Martz was a 1947 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On June 2, 1961, he married the former Shirley M. Smith in Strattanville; she survives.
Mr. Martz worked as a mechanic for Ringgold Equipment in Ringgold, PA for over 30 years.
He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and spending time with his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his nine children Michael Martz and wife Betty of Houston, TX, Terry Lee Smith and wife Pamela of Mayport, Larry Allen Martz and wife Penny of Mayport, Debbie Love Anthony and husband Charlie of Strattanville, Wanda Leigh Shoup and husband Donald of Mayport, Sherrie Martz of Pittsburgh, Pamela Jean Blake and husband Mark of New Bethlehem, Patricia Ann Magagnotti and William of New Bethlehem, and Peggy Lou Martz Anderson of New Bethlehem.
Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Martz is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Martz.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 6-7 p.m. at the Ringgold United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 7 p.m. with Reverend Joan L. Rousseaux officiating.
Interment will be in the Worthville Cemetery in Worthville. Furlong Funeral Home in Summerville is in charge of the arrangements.
The family asks that memorial donations be made to the Worthville Cemetery.
