Cornhole for a Cause

BROOKVILLE — A new event, Cornhole for a Cause, will be held Saturday, October 19, at 1 p.m. in the Expo Building at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. The cost to register a cornhole team is $20. There will also be a character luncheon, Chinese auction and children’s games. BROOKVILLE — The Brookville Area High School Class of 1980 is soliciting donations for the 9th annual “Susan Ord Heverley Nursing Scholarship Fund.” Contributions may be made at any branch of Farmer’s National Bank.

Harvest weekend

BROOKVILLE — Immaculate Conception and St. Dominic’s annual Harvest Weekend will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20. Kettle cooked apple butter will be made on Saturday. Apple butter, gourmet caramel apples and apple dumplings will be available for sale before the 5:15 pm Mass at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday. A stuffed pork chop dinner will be held Sunday in the church hall at Immaculate Conception, beginning at 11:15 a.m. until sold out. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Take-outs will be available.

Soup luncheon

EMERICKVILLE — Emerickville United Methodist Church will hold a soup luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 19. The meal will include soup, bread, pie and beverage.

Donations are $8 and take-outs will be available for $6 per quart (bring your own container).

Introduction to Beekeeping

HOUTZDALE — The Cambria-Clearfield-Blair County Beekeepers will present a seminar for beginning bee keepers in Clearfield at the Houtzdale fire hall, 601 Good St., Houtzdale, at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 20. The subject will be value added products and propolis. There is no fee to attend. Need not be a beekeeper to attend. BROOKVILLE — The Evangelical United Methodist Church will offer soup, sandwiches, desserts and beverages after the YMCA Color Run on Saturday, October 26. Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. Donations only. All proceeds will benefit the backpack program of the Brookville Area Food Pantry. The E.U.M. Church is located at 30 South White Street.

Beef and noodles

CORSICA — Pisgah Presbyterian Church in Corsica will hold a beef and noodles dinner Saturday, November 2, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Donations are $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 to 10. Children under age 6 eat free. Proceeds will benefit local missions.

Pancakes and sausage

TIONESTA — The senior class at West Forest High School will hold a pancake and sausage dinner Thursday, November 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Donations are $7 for adults and $5 for students. Take-outs will be available. To purchase a ticket call Jen Carll in the school office at (814)755-3302. Proceeds from the dinner will help finance the senior class trip.

OLIVEBURG — A roast beef dinner will be available for eat-in or take-out from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, November 17, at the Oliveburg Firehall. The dinner is being held to support Steve Dinger with his medical expenses.
