The Associated Builders and Contractors for Central PA and Workforce Solutions for North Central PA are collaborating to bring a virtual Building and Construction Summer Boot Camp to students from the counties of Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter.

Students entering 9th-12th grade in fall from the following counties are eligible: Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter. The dates will be held from July 20-31 from 2-4 p.m. each day.

Key content includes basic safety, introduction to construction math, hand tools, power tools, material handling, and construction drawings, basic riggings, basic communication skills, basic employability skills. Students will receive a hard copy of the NCCER Core Curriculum: Introductory Craft Skills book and access code for the online book.

Guest speakers will share their expertise, experiences, and lessons learned in the construction industry. Student will receive a certificate of completion at the completion of the boot camp.

Instructor will be Dan Johnston, who has extensive experience in the construction industry. He offers education and safety trainings for ABC, Central PA Chapter members. Virtual Boot Camp is offered via Zoom. Assistance will be available for students without access to a computer and/or internet.

There is no cost for the program, which is funded by Workforce Solutions for North Central PA through grants received form the PA Department of Labor and Industry including Business Education Partnership and PA SMART Next Gen Sector Partnership funding.
