BROOKVILLE — Write-in votes affected the outcome of at least two elections in Jefferson County.
In the Borough of Summerville there was no announced candidate for Mayor. According to the unofficial results, Robert K. Rupp II, an employee at Glen Gery Brick, tallied 11 votes and the current mayor, Greg Furlong, had 10 votes.
Rupp has lived in Summerville for 12 plus years with his wife, Barbie and three sons Owen, Connor and Hunter.”
Also in Summerville write-in candidate Frank Kosarich received six votes.
I’m just looking to contribute to the residents of Summerville,” said Rupp. “I’m hoping I can be a valuable asset.”
In the Corsica Borough there were four council seats available. Anthony was on the ballot and won one of the seats. In the write-ins, Christopher Simpson received eight votes and Carol Cox six votes.
There were several other write-in candidates but none received more than five votes.
Other races in the county may also be affected by write-in votes.
The candidates must go to Jefferson Place in Brookville and claim their votes. As the votes were write-ins there may be variations in spelling. No results are official until verified by the official count board.
