Prior to the Brookville Raiders basketball team’s game with Clearfield last Friday night, the 1987-88 Raiders were honored prior to tip-off. That year, the Raiders reeled off an undefeated regular season and won the Clarion County League championship. Once the game started, it was all Clearfield as Matt Shiner scored 32 points to lead the Bisons to a 67-50 win over the Raiders. Joe Galbraith led the Raiders with 15 points. ... The Clarion-Limestone Lady Lions topped North Clarion, 67-55. Erika Keck was one of four Lady Lions in double-figure scoring with 18 points to go along with her 10 rebounds and five steals. Nicole Wiesczcyk scored 16 points. ... The Brookville Raiders wrestling team dropped a 43-17 decision to Ridgway Tuesday night, dropping the Raiders’ record to 7-13 going into their trip to Smethport this week.

The Brookville Lady Raiders basketball team avenged a 23-point loss earlier in the season against Clarion-Limestone and beat the Lady Lions 55-39 in a rematch Tuesday night. Megan Fiala led the Lady Raiders with 17 points. Janice Kindel scored 14 points. For C-L, Kate Delaney scored 17 points and Lisa Aaron finished with 14 points. … Jon Guth scored 30 points for the Brookville Raiders in their 73-57 win over Clarion-Limestone. Brad McAninch came off the bench to score 17 points. Bob Aaron scored 16 points while Mike Ferguson and Rich Kindel scored 14 and 12 points respectively for the Lions, who fell to 5-6. The Raiders, meanwhile, kept their Clarion County League title hopes alive by improving to 9-2.

The Brookville Raiders wrestlers hammered out a 24-22 win over Redbank Valley last Friday in New Bethlehem, getting a pin from Don Hughey at heavyweight to secure the win. The Raiders, who improved to 5-3, got wins from John Crain (default) at 127, Lenny Ferraro (decision) at 133, Randy Bartley (decision) at 145, Kenny Ponchel (pin) at 165 and then Hughey for the winner. Gary Emerick scored a tie at 103. … The Brookville Raiders basketball team dropped a 69-65 decision at home to Bradford last Friday night. The locals got 22 points from Bill Mitchell and 18 from Dick Bowley. … The Brookville Courtmen topped Meadville for a 102-91 win last Saturday night at home. Dave Roman scored 30 points to lead the Courtmen. Terry Miller scored 21 points and Bob Back and Rich Stanczak finished with 18 and 16 points respectively.

The most important game of the current six-team cage league will be played in the Brookville High School Gymnasium Friday night when the Brookville Red Raiders challenge the Falls Creek Potters. Both share first place at the moment and it’s fortunate that Brookville has this game at home and Andy Hastings Gymnasium should be filled to capacity.
