Red zone not a good location for Redbank
Wednesday, October 5, 2011
[L-V photo by Ron Willison] NOT JUST AN INTERESTED SPECTATOR on the left side of the play, ClarionÕs Tanner Klein (79) came up with a huge play that led to the eventual game-winning touchdown against Redbank Valley on Friday. Stacking up ClarionÕs T.J. Armstrong (2) near the line of scrimmage, Redbank looked to have made a big fourth-quarter stop by forcing a fumble on a third-and-6 at the Bobcat 39. But Klein scooped up the loose ball and rambled to the RV 14 to set up a TD that gave Clarion a 29-15 lead with 2:20 left in the game.
CLARION - Location, location, location.
Prime real estate must be valued highly with property bordering the end zone listed as a very prized and valuable neighborhood.
But the red zone wasn't as friendly to the Redbank Valley Bulldogs as it was to the Clarion Bobcats in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Small School Division confrontation at Clarion University's Memorial Stadium on Friday.
In six trips inside the 20-yard line, Redbank came away with three touchdowns and a field goal while turning the ball over twice with Clarion cashing in with four TDs in its five trips inside the red zone. Just making better use of their time inside the red zone was the difference as the Bobcats squeezed out a 29-23 victory in a back-and-forth football game that could go a long way in determining the division champion.
