Turnovers fuel Knights in torching Wolverines

[L-V photo by Ron Willison] FUMBLING THE HANDOFF in the backfield, SheffieldÕs Kalil Slaughter (7) scooped up the ball but he didnÕt make it back to the line of scrimmage as UnionÕs Jake Gezik (60) and Aaron Graham (22) closed down the play for a 3-yard loss in the first quarter of the KnightÕs 60-21 non-conference rout on Thursday.
RIMERSBURG - Although most of the numbers in the game would indicate a much different outcome, Union was exceedingly dominant in one area and that superiority boosted the Golden Knights to a 60-21 victory over the Sheffield Wolverines in a non-conference football matchup on Thursday.
Take a look at the imbalance in statistics for the game. Sheffield rolled up a 295-158 advantage in offensive yards, posted a 201-89 bulge in passing yards, squeezed out a 94-69 edge in rushing yards, picked up 17 first downs to Union's five and finished with a 29:17 to 18:43 time of possession advantage.
Just where in all those numbers would you find a team scoring 60 points? Look no further than turnovers as the Knights might have been arrested for grand theft aerial with all their thievery in their runaway victory over the Wolverines.
