Offensive dry spells take bite out of 'Dogs

[L-V photo by Ron Willison] MAKING A MOVE DOWN THE LANE, Redbank ValleyĆs Austin Shumaker (23) got past the A-C Valley defense for a basket in the fourth quarter of a KSAC game on Dec. 20. Shumaker had four points in the game as the Bulldogs fell to 0-2 with a 71-40 loss.
NEW BETHLEHEM - Going six minutes without hitting a field goal lengthens the odds on winning a game and Redbank Valley endured three such dry spells as the Bulldogs suffered a 71-40 setback at the hands of the Allegheny-Clarion Valley Falcons in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference matchup on Dec. 20.
Popping in the game's first basket just 13 seconds into the contest for its lone lead of the game, Redbank went nearly six minutes without another point as A-C Valley poured in 13 straight points for a 13-2 advantage. Trailing by 12 at the end of the opening quarter, the Bulldogs got back within eight at the start of the second period but went almost seven minutes without a basket as the Falcons took a 27-18 halftime lead.
