[L-V photo by Ron Willison] WITH THE OUTCOME OF THE MATCH hanging in the balance, Redbank ValleyÕs Ty Haines scored the final six points at 138 pounds and secured a 33-29 win for the Bulldogs with a 6-2 decision over PunxsutawneyÕs Neko Cappella in a dual wrestling match on Jan. 17.
NEW BETHLEHEM - Momentum couldn't seem to make up its mind what side of the mat it was going to reside so it ended up just swinging back and forth between the Redbank Valley Bulldogs and the Punxsutawney Chucks in a dual wrestling match on Jan. 17.
Winning four of the first five weight classes, Punxsutawney jumped out to an early 16-5 advantage before Redbank chalked up four wins in a row to turn the tables on the Chucks for a 24-16 lead. Back came Punxsutawney with three wins in succession and the Chucks grabbed a 29-24 lead with two bouts remaining to be wrestled. Needing to win both bouts to pull out a victory to remain undefeated for the season, the Bulldogs got a pin by Garrett Hildebrand and a decision by Ty Haines in leapfrogging past Punxsutawney for a 33-29 victory to remain unbeaten with a 4-0 record.
