BETTY C. TRUITT, 90

Betty C. Truitt, 90, of Fairmount City (Truittsburg), died Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012, at Clarion Hospital.
Born January 26, 1921, in South Bethlehem, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of Arnold Glenn Shumaker and Ella Pearl Morrison Shumaker.
She married Robert C. Truitt on July 18, 1941. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1982.
Mrs. Truitt was a housewife, but also the bookkeeper for Truittsburg Farms, which she owned and operated with her husband and family.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Bethlehem, the New Bethlehem Civic Club, Order of the Eastern Star No. 230 and Friends of the Library.
Mrs. Truitt was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and hosting church groups and card clubs.
Survivors include her children, Sue Truitt Beels and her husband, Barry, of Washington, Janet C. Truitt, Glen B. Truitt and his wife, Mary K., and Ann Truitt Kopnitsky and her husband, Mike, all of Fairmount City; four grandchildren, Jaime Beels, Brian Beels, Hallie Truitt and Christina Kopnitsky; and four great-grandchildren, Lauren Beels, Andrew Beels, Emily Beels and Austin Beels.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stillborn infant sister, Mary Jane Shumaker.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 20, at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jodie Smith, a pastor of the Redbank Valley United Methodist Ministry, officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Distant, Armstrong County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given in Mrs. Truitt's name to the charity of one's choice.
