Laura B. Shoemaker Elliott, 93, of Winfield Township, formerly of New Bethlehem and Natrona Heights, died Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Fairwinds Manor, Winfield Township.
Prior to moving to Fairwinds Manor she resided at Mason's Personal Care Home in Sarver.
Born December 7, 1918, in Jefferson County, she was the daughter of Don A. and Gladys McAninch Heeter.
Mrs. Elliott was a graduate of the New Bethlehem High School Class of 1936 and attended Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing.
She married Paul T. Shoemaker. He preceded her in death.
She then married James D. Elliott. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Elliott was a ward clerk in the operating room of Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights for 16 years.
She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Tarentum where she was an elder and trustee.
Mrs. Elliott was also a member of the Cheswick Eastern Star, the Woman's Club of Allegheny Valley and AARP.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include three children, Donald R. Shoemaker and his wife, Amber, of Buffalo Township, Paul T. Shoemaker of Tarentum, and Patricia Groom of Las Vegas, Nev.; two step-children, Keith Rankin and his wife, Sally, of Buffalo Township, and David Boggs and his wife, Judy, of Apex, N.C.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and three half-brothers, Paul Heeter and his wife, Ann, of Butler, William Heeter and his wife, Pat, of Rimersburg, and George Heeter and his wife, Marty, of Minden, Nev.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys McAninch Heeter; her father and step-mother, Don A. and Nora Armstrong Heeter; a brother, Robert Cresswell; and her aunt and uncle who raised her, William D. and Jessie Irene Cowan.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at the Robert Peters Funeral Home in Natrona Heights with the Rev. Sara Wrona officiating.
Interment was in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
