Betty J. (Rader) Shaffer, 87, of Sligo, formerly of Mayport, died Thursday, February 16, 2012.
Born September 9, 1924, in Ringgold Township, she was the daughter of John and Lucetta (Bodorf) Rader.
She married William C. Shaffer on September 6, 1941. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2005.
Mrs. Shaffer had been employed during her lifetime at Hawthorn Manufacturing, Rola Manufacturing and Sylvania.
She was a member of the New Salem United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shaffer cherished times spent with family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Clair E. Shaffer of Mayport; four grandchildren, Belinda Rosencrance and her husband, Don, of Dayton, Theresa Reed and her husband, Bill, of Milan, Ohio, Christopher Shaffer and his wife, Jennifer, of Mayport, and Tammy Smith and her husband, Ken, of Corey; 10 great-grandchildren, Chad Reed, Brittany Geisel, Christopher Rosencrance, Aaron Bussard, Stephen Rosencrance, Ciara Reed, Owen Shaffer, and Haley, Morgan and Rylan Smith; a great-great-granddaughter, Kaydence Geisel; and four sisters, Sarah Brocious of Warren, Ohio, Mary Hanna of Mayport, Dolly Kunselman and her husband, Arnie, of Pace, Fla. and Patsy Bish and her husband, Glenn, of Fredonia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service honoring Mrs. Shaffer's life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Concord Presbyterian Church in Dayton with the Rev. Carol Brown officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements are at the direction of the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.
