Students visit Edinboro University for Journalism Day
Recently, four students from the DuBois Area High School went to Edinboro University of Pennsylvania campus with teacher Dorothea Hackett for Journalism Day. The event consisted of many speakers and lectures relating to different fields of journalism and aspects of reporting. The morning keynote speaker was Karlee Dies. Karlee graduated from Edinboro in 2017 and produces for Fox 66 news on the weekday and on weekends works as an associate producer for JET-24 Action News programs. The luncheon keynote speaker was Kevin Kleps who is an assistant editor at Crain’s Cleveland Business. Previously, he was the assistant sports editor at The News-Herald for 13 years. He has a degree in Speech Communication from Edinboro University. After seeing a panel choice and two speakers, there was a tour of the media department of Edinboro. The group toured the television studio, newspaper lounge, and radio station. It was an overall educational and enjoyable experience that the group hopes to participate in next year.
