SIGEL — A Jefferson County man is charged with inappropriately touching a young girl multiple times at his home.
The 11-year-old girl told state police that she was sexually assaulted by 40-year-old Daniel Ivan Held at his residence at 264 Best Dr., Sigel.
During a forensic interview, the girl said he was “touching me in places he shouldn’t be” and said it happened as recently as the week before, according to the affidavit. She added that it happened more than once.
She said when it happened she told Held multiple times to stop.
In an interview, Held denied the allegations saying that he would go into the girl’s room to help her wake up, rubbing her back, because she is “not a morning person,” according to police.
According to the affidavit, when he submitted to a polygraph test, he admitted to touching her inappropriately, adding that the allegations the girl made were true and correct.
Held is charged by state police with two counts of corruption of minors, two counts of unlawful contact with minors, and two counts of indecent assault. Charges were filed Tuesday.
He was held at Jefferson County Jail until Wednesday when bail was posted to release him.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. April 5 at District Judge Gregory Bazylak’s office in Brookville.
