DuBOIS — The DuBois Area School District will be searching for a new special education director following last week’s retirement of William Ferko II.

Ferko’s retirement is effective March 12.

Also retiring, effective Dec. 22, is Mary Baummer, cafeteria aide at C.G. Johnson Elementary School in Reynoldsville.


Several hirings were approved:

  • Andrew Edinger as assistant athletic director, effective on or after Jan. 29, at a stipend of $5,000, to be prorated for the 201718 school year.
  • The change of status for Catherine McGarvey from day-to-day substitute math instructor at the DuBois Area Middle School to short-term substitute math instructor at the middle school, effective Sept. 20, 2017, through Nov. 22, 2017.
  • Extra-duty positions for interscholastic spring sports for the 2017-18 school year, as per contract: Baseball: Mark Guthridge, varsity assistant, Eric Liddle and David Ryan, varsity assistants (to be split 50/50 with David Ryan); softball (middle school, seventh and eighth grade): Michelle Snyder, head coach; Casey Wilcox, assistant coach; Track (seventh and eighth grade): T.J. Wingard, assistant.
  • Extra-duty positions for the 2017-18 All-School Drama, as per contract: Stage manager, Joe Sensor; and costumes, Nichole Gutowski.
