KERSEY — A Kersey man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to strangle a 29-year-old Kersey woman.

Ridgway State Police were called to a residence on Dagus Mines Road in Fox Township on March 31 in response to reports of a physical altercation between a man and woman, according to a police report.

James Eckert, 27, of Kersey, is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony, simple assault and harassment.

Eckert was arraigned before District Judge Mark Jacob of St. Marys on April 2 on $5,000 unsecured bail, according to court documents.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. April 23 at the office of District Judge Mark Jacob of St. Marys.
