DuBOIS — Two more people have been cited for violating the Sandy Township trash ordinance.

Zoning officer Jim Keck filed two non-traffic citations at District Judge Patrick Ford’s Office in DuBois against Russell Phillip Gibson, 1237 1/2 S. Brady St., DuBois, and property owner Lorna M. Marsh, 600 Blacksnake Road, Stanley, N.C.

The charges were filed March 2 for violating the ordinance by permitting the accumulation of garbage, rubbish, bulky waste or any other municipal or residual solid waste on the property.

The fine is $1,000 per day plus court costs for each day residents are in violation of the code, he said.

More than 300 residents are not maintaining the required trash services and not paying the current trash hauler, Advanced Disposal of Brockway, Keck said in a previously published Courier Express article.

All residential garbage and rubbish shall be collected at least once a week, according to the ordinance.

With the assistance of the police department, Keck gives residents three warnings before filing charges with the magistrate.
