PUNXSUTAWNEY — A detour on State Route 119 will be in place May 6 through July 20 to facilitate the Indiana Hill bridge replacement project, according to a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman.
The detour will utilize routes 436 and 36 to connect 119.
The project will see the Indiana Hill bridge structure removed, the fill for that area placed, a pre-cast concrete box that carries the Mahoning Shadow trail to be placed and the construction of a new lane of travel on Route 119.
Several parking spaces will be removed from a section of West Mahoning Street and Findley Street between Gilpin Street and the Findley Street intersection. Five of the parking spaces on the north side of West Mahoning and three spaces on the south side of West Mahoning will be temporarily removed to facilitate the free flow of traffic.
The “stop bars” on routes 119 (South Gilpin Street) and route 36 (West Mahoning Street in front of Rite Aid) will be temporarily moved back 51 feet and 73 feet, respectively.
