DuBOIS — Another payment request was approved by the Sandy Township Supervisors for the right turn lane project located at the intersection of Route 255 and Industrial Drive.
“This is the payment request for the work that was done right after the holidays, completion of installation of the traffic signal pole and removal of the old pole and temporarily cementing where the old pole was,” said township Engineer Perry Bowser.
This is not the final payment, said Bowser.
The remaining amount is $46,125.50 to complete the project as a retainer payment and completing the additional work in the spring, he said.
Supervisor Mark Sullivan asked if they are going to take the concrete out.
“Yes,” Bowser said. “That’s why there will be additional work in the spring and any cleanup work that is required.”
Supervisors’ Chairman Jim Jeffers asked why they put concrete in instead of blacktop.
“Because of the weather, they couldn’t get blacktop,” Bowser said.
The turn lane project was awarded to M and B Services, LLC, of Clarion with a total base bid price of $264,251 in early July.
The turn lane is needed because of the recent retail center development in that area. The retail center has been built on a 3.17 acre parcel off East DuBois Avenue, Industrial Drive and Midway Drive by Win DuBois LLC.
The development replaced the car wash and gas station buildings, which were demolished prior to construction.
