SYKESVILLE (AP) - The family of a Jefferson County woman missing since the remains of an infant were found in her burned-out home a year ago hopes more reward money will lead to more clues.
Thirty-three-year-old Joey Lynn Offutt hasn't been seen since a fire destroyed her home last July 12. Saturday marks one year since the blaze.
The remains of the infant hadn't been positively identified until recently.
Offutt's nephew, Jason Hungerford, says police told the family within the last couple months that the body is that of Offutt's 6-week-old son, though a cause of death has not been determined.
Offutt also has two other children who were not at home at the time of the fire and were last reported to be living with relatives.
He says the family is frustrated by the lack of leads.
They plan to increase the reward money for information leading to her whereabouts from $10,000 to $15,000.
