Clearfield took the opening two sets by indentical 25-17 scores, while the Lady Cardinals fought back to claim the third set, 25-15. However, DuBois Central Catholic couldn't carry that momentum over into the fourth set as the Lady Bisons won, 25-18, to claim the victory.
The majority of the sets were close through 15 points, but the winning team seemed to pick things up from there to carry it to the win.
Clearfield had things going early in the first set as Jennie Knepp and Samantha Broad combined to push the Lady Bisons out to a 6-1 lead.
However, following a block from DuBois Central Catholic's Miller Hopkins, the Lady Cardinals strung together a few points and eventually closed the gap to 8-6.
Clearfield made it 10-6 before the Lady Cardinals rallied behind Michelle Johnson at the net and eventually closed the gap to a single point at 15-14.
The lead stayed at a single point through the next several points before Clearfield opened up a three-point lead and got the serve.
That proved to be the final time that the Lady Cardinals scored as Clearfield's Monika Parks put down five straight service points to finish things off.
The second set started in much the same way as neither team could put distance between the other and it was tied as late as 10-10.
Clearfield finally got the advantage it was looking for as Parks and Kelsey Glace gave the Lady Bisons some breathing room at 18-13.
That push was enough to do in the Lady Cardinals as they couldn't get closer than four points the rest of the set.
Despite falling behind in the third set the Lady Cardinals got things going fairly quickly as they fell behind 3-1 before tying the match at 5-5.
That was the last time the set was even in question as Kim Cadori, Amber Novak, Johnson and Jules Moran combined to give DuBois Central Catholic a 19-10 advantage.
While Clearfield added several more points on sideouts, the Lady Cardinals held on to win, 25-15.
The fourth and final contest was a nip-and-tuck affair through most of set. Both teams held leads and it was tied as late as 13-13.
However, the Lady Bisons started to generate some offense after that, putting pressure on DuBois Central Catholic. Ashley Gearhart and Amber Mahlon did the damage at the service line and eventually pushed Clearfield to a 20-15 advantage.
That five point margin proved to be too much, too late in the game for DuBois Central Catholic as Clearfield went on to win, 25-18.
DuBois Central Catholic will travel to Brockway Thursday.
