Since her story was recently featured on the "America's Most Wanted" television program, DuBois-based state police have received numerous tips about Joey Lynn Offutt, 35, missing from her home on Doctor Fugate Drive, Sykesville, since July 12, 2007.
According to previous Courier-Express articles, Offutt's home caught fire in the early morning hours July 12, 2007, and the fire consumed a large portion of the home.
Three days later, police discovered what were believed to be the remains of an infant child inside the burned home. The remains were taken to Erie for an autopsy.
On July 17, police said Offutt's 1994 Saturn coupe was found on Waupelani Drive in State College. The car reportedly had visible damage to the front portion of the hood.
Offutt is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall, with a thin build and brown hair and eyes.
Her information has been entered into the National Crime Information Center data base.
Police continue to work with law enforcement officials across the United States, but have not been able to confirm any reported sightings as actually being Offutt.
Additional information about Offutt can be found at www.findjoey.org, which was created by her family to assist in locating her.
Anyone with information at Offutt's whereabouts or the case in general should call Trooper Bruce A. Morris, Troop C Public Information Officer, 15010 Boot Jack Road, Ridgway, at 776-6136.
