SUPLIZIO
SUPLIZIO
Mayor and acting city Manager John "Herm" Suplizio was asked Thursday by Councilman Randy Schmidt if he would consider being the full-time city manager.
"For several years now we've had a search committee for a manager for the city of DuBois," Schmidt said. "After many months of searching, interviewing ... we've come down to the point that we feel we have a strong candidate for city manager."
Schmidt asked for an answer from Suplizio by Monday. Schmidt said he would release the names of those on the committee at a later date.
Suplizio did not answer Thursday but said, "I am honored to be offered the position."
Background
Former city Manager Ron Trzyna resigned Sept. 13, 2006. Suplizio was appointed acting manager Oct. 20, 2006. During that period, the council formed a five-member search committee at the time to review applications. It consisted of Chairman Joe Korb, Jeff Baronick, George Heigel, Jack Dugan and Joe Swisher.
Suplizio was named acting manager, 3-2, with him and the late Councilman Bill Boyle voting against the appointment. Suplizio did not give a reason for his vote, but said he would not make any decisions without bringing the matters before council first.
