Born Nov. 18, 1980, he was a son of Jere C. and Janie L. Ebeling Gilligan. His parents survive and live in Brookville. He was married to Jaclyn Kelly Fry July 29, 2006. She survives.
He was a 1999 graduate of Brookville High School and a 2004 graduate of Lock Haven University, with a Master's Degree in Education and was pursuing a Principle's Certification at Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre. He was a drivers education and physical education teacher for Palisades High School in Kintnersville, and the head wrestling coach for four years.
While attending Brookville High School he competed for the Brookville Raider wrestling team where he amassed an overall record of 118 wins and 23 loses. He was a four-time district champion 1996-1999 at 130, 135, 140, 145, a regional champion in 1999 at 145, a two-time state place winner third in 1997 at 135 and third in 1998 at 140. He was a 1999 state champion at 145. He was honored in 2009 by being inducted into the District IX Hall of Fame for his contributions as a wrestler.
He is also survived by one son, Liam Hunter Gilligan, at home; one sister, Mrs. Mark (Holly) Pangallo of Brookville and his maternal grandfather, Earl Ebeling of Portersville.

GILLIGAN: Jason R., 1070 South Madison St., Allentown, died Nov. 29, 2009. Friends will be received from 1-9 p.m. Thursday and 8-11 a.m. Friday at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Pastor Timothy McConville and Pastor Jim Fillhart officiating. Burial will be in Bethel-Geer Cemetery, Pinecreek Township. Memorial donations may be made to the Liam Hunter Gilligan Memorial Fund, 1070 South Madison St. Allentown, PA 18103. The McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville is in charge of arrangements.
