Head coach David Black and assistants Troy Burkett and Nick Deloia have just one freshman on this year's roster, but talent in the younger grades should make the Raiders at least a contender to improve on last year's 6-6 dual meet record and a runner-up finish at the District 9 Invitational.
Leading the way is the eighth-grade trio of twin brothers Brock and Brodie Zacherl, and Zach Vroman. Brock was 23-0 and earned the Outstanding Wrestler award at the D-9 Invite. He also placed third at the Junior Wrestling state tournament. Brodie, at 18-2, also won an Invite title and qualified for JW states. Vroman (19-3) was second at the invite and also qualified for JW states.
Two seventh-graders earned trips to JW states last year in Jimmy Miller and Jonah Sampson, who medaled with an eighth-place finish.
The Raiders get the season started Dec. 12 at the Huntingdon Tournament before opening at home against Clarion on Dec. 15.
