ST. MARYS — After trailing by just three points at the half, Brockway was outscored 51-19 in the second half as it was defeated 79-44 by Coudersport in the District 9 Class 2A Quarterfinals at St. Marys Tuesday.
After thrilling victories in each of the first two rounds, Ridgway is set to battle Our Lady of Sacred Heart (OLSH) in the PIAA Class 2A quarterfinals Saturday at Oil City High School at 2:30 p.m.
DuBOIS — A three-pointer by Jake Reynolds and a pair of late-game defensive stops helped Ridgway secure a 38-36 victory over Wilmington in the PIAA Class 2A second round Wednesday at DuBois.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Elk County Catholic was unable to maintain a 10-point three-quarter lead, as it was defeated 63-57 by Vincentian Academy in the second round of the PIAA Class A playoffs at Slippery Rock University Tuesday.
After coming from behind to beat Sewickley Academy in the opening round of the PIAA Class 2A playoffs, Ridgway will now take on Wilmington in the second round Wednesday at DuBois at 6 p.m.
With just three Tri-County Area teams advancing to the PIAA second round, two hail from Class A on the boys side in Elk County Catholic and Clarion-Limestone.

DuBOIS — The Punxsutawney girls basketball used a smothering defense and third-quarter offensive explosion Wednesday evening to capture its third straight District 9 Class 4A championship with a lopsided 44-23 victory against St. Marys at DuBois Area High School.
CLARION — DuBois held off an 11-2 run by Carrick in the late portions of the fourth quarter as it secured a 55-45 victory in the District 8-9-10 semifinals at Clarion High School Wednesday.
ST. MARYS — Elk Country Catholic pulled away in the second half on its way to a 62-44 victory over Johnsonburg in the District 9 Class A semifinals at St. Marys Tuesday.
HYDE — It wasn’t a thing of beauty, particularly in the first half, but the Brookville Lady Raiders got rolling after the break to run away from Chestnut Ridge, 70-39, in the District 5-9 Class 3A subregional championship game Tuesday night at Clearfield Area High School.
