ST. MARYS — Waiting out a one-hour delay in their tri-meet at St. Marys Tuesday afternoon, both Brookville Area High School track and field teams came away with sweeps of the hosts and Port Allegany.
Both kept their dual meet records perfect at 6-0 going into Saturday’s trip to the Hickory Invitational. Next Tuesday, both teams host DuBois.
Tuesday, the Raiders routed St. Marys (113-34) and Port Allegany (139-10) while the Lady Raiders beat St. Marys (93-57) with no winning score available against Port Allegany.
The highlight of the day came from Raiders senior Bryan Dworek, who broke the school record in the long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 6 1/2 inches. That surpassed Vinny Dougherty’s 2011 record by one inch.
Dworek also won the 200-meter dash (22.19) and ran a leg on the winning 4x100 relay with Kyle MacBeth, Jack Krug and Ian Thrush. That foursome ran a 44.15.
Thrush also won the 100 dash (11.0) and finished second to Dworek in the 200. MacBeth won the javelin (161 feet, 8 inches) and added a second in the 400 dash. Krug was runner-up in the 100 dash to complete a 1-2-3 Raiders sweep.
Bryce Baughman doubled in the 800 (2:19.5) and 1,600 (5;04.2) runs as did Dillon Olson in the 110 hurdles (15.0) and 400 dash (53.28).
Cam Hooven doubled in the high jump (5 feet, 6 inches) and triple jump (39 feet, 2 inches) while finishing second in the long jump.
Ian Pete won the 300 hurdles (49.41) while Calvin Doolittle won the 3,200 run (11:52) and finished second in the 1,600.
Also for the Raiders, Hayden Kramer was second in the 800 and 3,200 runs, Addison Singleton finished second in the 110 hurdles and triple jump, J.P. was runner-up to Hooven in the high jump and Garner McMaster was second to Pete in the 300 hurdles.
For the Lady Raiders, Morgan Johnson tripled with wins in the long jump (16 feet, 5 3/4 inches) and 200 dash (27.56) while running a leg on the winning 4x100 relay (51.75) with Madison Johnson, Morgan Monnoyer and Dani MacBeth.
Brooke Quairiere doubled in the 100 hurdles (16.1) and triple jump (33 feet, 2 1/2 inches) while Monnoyer added a win in the 100 dash (13.2). Other winners were Laynee Sorbin in the high jump (4 feet, 4 inches), Madison McAninch in the 300 hurdles (53.59), Mattisen Drake in the pole vault (9 feet), Emma Fiscus in the 3,200 run (12:50) and Cheyenne Gotwald in the javelin (99 feet, 8 1/2 inches).
Sorbin was second in the triple jump while MacBeth finished second in the 200 dash. Others finishing second were Kira Powell in the shot put, Emily Martz in the 400 dash, Julie Bailey in the 300 hurdles, Morgan Kulik in the pole vault, Sadie Shofestall in the 800 run, Rylee Stancliffe in the long jump, Sydney Miller in the javelin and Tessa Shaffer in the high jump.
