RIDGWAY — Many area runners took to the course at the Francis S. Grandinetti Elementary School on Saturday for the Ridgway Invite, with a pair of area schools taking home team wins.

The Elk County Catholic boys team have five runners finish in the Top 10 to take the boys race, while the DuBois girls had six girls run under 22 minutes to take home the team victory.

Brookville’s Ryan Thrush won the race on the boys side with a time of 16:27, while St. Marys’ Michelle Bauer won the girls race as she crossed the finish line at 19:22.

Zachary Wortman led the ECC boys with a second place overall finish at 16:43, just 16 seconds behind Thrush. Logan Hoffman (sixth, 17:21), Ben Hoffman (eighth, 17:22), Isaac Wortman (ninth, 17:23) and Matthew Dippold (10th, 17:38) were all in the top 10 for the Crusaders.

Vincent Thompson (20th, 18:17) and Ben Uberti (52nd, 19:32) also scored for the Crusaders.

Other area boys teams participating were DuBois (seventh place), Clarion (eighth), Brookville (11th), Brockway (15th) and St. Marys (18th). Clarion-Limestone, DuBois Central Catholic, Redbank Valley and Ridgway also all particpated, but did not have enough runners to score in the meet.

DuBois’ Peter Foradora finished in third place behind Wortman with a time of 17:00. Kaleb Stevens (23rd, 18:24), Jeremy Fischer (33rd, 18:50), Jonathan Russell (71st, 20:00), Keith Fatula (72nd, 20:01), Layton Yarus (88th, 20:28) and Brady Johnson (97th, 20:48) also scored for the Beavers.

Adam Bettwy led Clarion with a 12th place finish at 17:41.

For Brookville, Xavier Molnar finished 57th at 19:41 as the second-best runner behind Thrush. Bryce Baughman (64th, 19:55), Levi Roseman (77th, 20:12), Zak Gilbert (84th, 20:23), Kai Sorbin (91st, 20:36) and Bailey Thrush (101st, 21:08) scored for the Raiders.

Linkin Nichols led Brockway with a 35th place finish at 18:53, while Tanner Pearce was second in 41st place at 19:03. Adam Sabatose (69th, 19:58), Ben Schatz (112th, 23:08), Corey Snell (113th, 23:25), Nathan Bennett (117th, 25:15) and Weston Hrin (120th, 25:57) also scored.

For the DuBois girls, Cassie Folmar led the way with a fourth place finish in 19:57, 35 seconds behind Bauer.

Lauren Usaitis (13th, 20:49), Julie Marchioni (25th, 21:29), Lindsey Hewitt (39th, 21:35), Lizzy French (56th, 21:39), Emalee Horner (75th, 21:46) and Kyra Hoover (100th, 22:14) also scored for the Lady Beavers.

The St. Marys girls were in second place behind only DuBois in the team standings. Brookville (ninth) and Elk County Catholic (10th) also placed, while Brockway, Clarion, Clarion-Limestone, DuBois Central Catholic and Ridgway all had runners there, but not enough to score as a team.

For St. Marys, Amanda Foster came in third place with a time of 19:54, which trailed only her teammate, Bauer, and Kane’s Chelsea Hunt.

Tessa Grotzinger (24th, 22:13), Lucy Anthony (27th, 22:24), Autumn Majchrzak (34th, 22:55), Anna Raffeinner (49th, 24:14) and Olivia Mosier (71st, 28:17) also scored for the Lady Dutch.

For Brookville, Jennifer Kidder led the way in 30th place at 22:44, while Alexis Dubay was 40th at 23:40. Jillian Taylor (44th, 23:58), Madison McAninch (45th, 23:58), Brynn Afton (47th, 24:07), Aubrey Noble (51st, 24:24) and Elissa McNeil (52nd, 24:26) also scored.

Fr the Lady Crusaders, Lauryn Wortman got 10th pace at 20:57, while Abby Bonfardin was 20th at 21:53. Marcy Smith (70th, 27:46), China Pham (76th, 36:28) and Len Nguyen (79th, 44:07) also scored.

St. Marys hosts Brookville on Tuesday, while DuBois Central Catholic and Brockway visit Punxsutawney, and Elk County Catholic hosts Kane and Smethport on Tuesday. Ridgway is at the Cuba-Rushford Invite on Saturday.
