DuBOIS — Unlike Sunday’s District 10 opener for the DuBois Little League All-Star softball team, Tuesday’s second-round game at Brookville had no early drama at all.
There were similarities as DuBois pounded out another seven-run first inning. That was more than enough for its 17-0, four-inning win over Brookville at Baughman Field. That puts DuBois in Saturday’s winners’ bracket final against St. Marys, a game that will be played in St. Marys at 4 p.m.
DuBois, the visiting team via the pre-game coin flip, scored in all four of its at-bats, including that seven-run first that saw 11 batters reach the plate. It took advantage of two walks and four Brookville errors, with Sarah Henninger tripling and Lauren Walker singling in a run apiece.
Henninger had the big night at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two triples and an inside-the-park home run that led off the four-run second inning. Two more walks and another Brookville error set up Emma Cuba’s RBI single and Madison Hoyt’s run-scoring double.
Henninger again led off in the third with a triple and scored on Walker’s one-out single. Nina Maloney singled in Walker with two outs to put DuBois up 13-0.
Four more runs in the fourth pushed DuBois’ already big lead to 17-0 as it batted around, getting singles from Bella Gregory, Eden Galiczynski, Walker, Emma Delp and Maloney.
Galiczynski and Walker singled in runs — Walker was 3-for-4 with three runs batted in — while Delp doubled in a run. Maloney had two hits and reached twice on errors.
On the mound, Galiczynski threw the first three innings, allowing all three of Brookville’s hits, while striking out five and walking three. Delp struck out the side with one walk in the fourth inning to end the game.
Ashton Pangallo, Brookville’s starting pitcher, singled in the first and third innings while Liana Wolfe singled with one out in the second.
Brookville drops into the losers’ bracket with a Thursday game against Bradford at a site to be announced.
