RIDGWAY — The Ridgway boys golf team had two players card rounds in the 30s Thursday to help Elkers upend visiting St. Marys, 211-235, at Laurel Mill Golf Course.

Elker Ben Ames captured medalist honors with a 37, while teammate Nick Simon was right on his heels with a 39. Greg Simon added a 44, while Aaron Shilk (450 and Josh Thorwart (46) rounded out Ridgway’s scoring.

“Ben Ames and Nick Simon each were able to shave off four strokes from yesterday (Wednesday),” said Ridgway coach Eric Herzing. “That’s a good sign that we are moving in the right direction.

“We will need to play a little better as a team against a tough opponent on their course on Tuesday.”

Nick Wendel led St. Marys with a 41, while Michael Beimel and Brendon Rolley finished at 46 and 47, respectively. Ryan Bressler (50) and Jesse McKee (51) finished off the Dutch scoring.

Both teams return to action Tuesday. Ridgway travels to Brookville, while St. Marys hosts Bradford.

BROCKWAY 221,

DuBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 222

At Brockport, host Brockway picked up first win of the season with slim 221-222 victory over DuBois Central Catholic at Owens-Brockway Golf Course.

Angelo Inzana led Brockway with a 51 to earn medalist honors, while teammate Derek Bennett had a 53. Paul Brosky (58) and Brendan Allison (59) also scored for Brockway.

The Cardinals were led byMax Forcey’s 52. Tyler McIntosh (55), Kadin Danch (570 and Mike Misiewicz (580 rounded out the DCC scoring.

Both squads are in action Monday. Brockway heads to Curwensville, while DCC plays host to Brookville.

DuBOIS 179,

CURWENSVILLE 196

At Lumber City, DuBois improved to 2-0 on the season with a 179-196 win over Curwensville at Eagles Ridge Golf Course.

DuBois’ Joe Hnat continued his strong early-season play, earning medalist honors once again with a 40. Beavers Drew Canter and Alex Beers carded rounds of 44 and 45, respectively, while Kaleb Hand had a 50. Drew Bankovich also had a 50, but Hand’s scored was sued since he was higher in the starting order.

Shawn Miller led Curwensville with a 44. Shane Miller also broke 50 with a 48, with Victor Rohrbacher (50) and Garrett Hryn (54) finishing off the Golden Tide scoring.

Both teams play again Monday at home. DuBois hosts Punxsutawney, while Curwensville welcomes Brockway at Eagles Ridge.
