As a full-time guide, one of the questions I’m most often asked is, “When is the best time to fish a river for smallmouth bass?” The fact is, all seasons, from early spring until late fall, have the potential to be great. That said, when it comes to big numbers of bubba-sized smallies, when you hit things right, early spring often produces the best days of the season.
