JOHNSONBURG — It’s been awhile since the Brookville Raiders and Johnsonburg met on a wrestling mat. Try the 2002 District 9 Class AA Dual Meet Tournament in Brockway.

The last time the Raiders and Rams met during the regular season? At the Brookville Duals in December of 1994.

Tuesday night, the Raiders visited Johnsonburg for the first time since the 1991-92 season and notched a 59-11 win, improving to 19-2 heading into Saturday’s District 9 Class AA Duals in DuBois.

The Raiders won eight of 11 bouts contested while picking up three forfeit wins at 106, 195 and 220 pounds. Xavier Molnar’s forfeit win at 195 was his 99th career win.

On the mat, Elliot Park pinned Matt Berger in the second period at 182, Colby Whitehill decked Zac Hodgdon in 62 seconds at heavyweight, Parker Fleming pinned Cole Norlin in the first period at 113 and Braden MacBeth pinned Isaac Zimmerman at the end of the second period at 170 for the Raiders’ six-point wins.

The Raiders got two technical falls from Kai Sorbin and Dontae Constable at 126 and 138 pounds. Sorbin beat Dalton Stahli 16-0 while Constable routed Cole Haight, 16-1.

Cabe Park majored Nolan Shaffer, 9-1, at 120 and in the best bout of the night, Caleb Hetrick edged Jacob Zimmerman, 10-9, at 152.

The Rams, who dropped to 11-9, got three wins on the mat. Devon Norlin majored Wyatt Kulik, 15-3, at 132. Cole Casilio edged Jacob Cable, 4-3, at 145 and Tyler Watts majored Wyatt Griffin, 10-2, at 160.

Saturday, the Raiders try to win their fifth straight Class AA Dual Meet title at DuBois Area High School as the top seed in a six-team bracket.

The Raiders get a bye into the semifinal round at around 12:30 p.m. against the winner of the 10 a.m. quarterfinal matchup between No. 5 Johnsonburg and No. 4 Port Allegany.

On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Brockway also gets a bye into the semifinals against the winner of the 10 a.m. quarterfinal between No. 3 Ridgway and No. 6 Redbank Valley.

The finals and consolation finals are set for approximately 3 p.m. and a “true-second” matchup to determine the second state berth would be wrestled at 5:30 p.m. if needed.
