BROCKWAY — The Johnsonburg softball team used patience at the plate and a strong dominant pitching performance from Julie Peterson to upend Brockway, 13-0, in five innings Thursday for its first victory.

DuBOIS — The DuBois Central Catholic softball team found itself in the unusual position of trailing 5-1 entering the bottom of the second inning Thursday against Cranberry, but the Lady Cardinals responded with a strong finish to edge the Lady Berries, 6-5, at Heindl Field.

JOHNSONBURG — The DuBois Central Catholic softball team used a dominant pitycher performance by Morgan Tyler and a balanced offensive attack to upend host Johnsonburg, 8-0, Tuesday at Knothole Park.

ST. MARYS — A new era of St. Marys High School softball opened Monday as a young Lady Dutch squad rode the right arm of sophomore Kendall Young and a balanced offensive attack to blank cross-town rival Elk County Catholic, 6-0, in its season opener.

DuBOIS — The Elk County Catholic softball team gave DuBois Central Catholic a game for three-plus innings Monday in its season opener, but DCC’s deep lineup proved too much to handle as the Lady Cardinals pulled away late for a 14-4, 5-inning victory at Heindl Field.

ST. MARYS — Youth will certainly be served this season for the Elk County Catholic softball program, as head coach Eric Weisner returns just a couple players who were even on the roster the last time the Lady Crusaders played a game in 2019.

KARNS CITY — The DuBois Central Catholic softball team opened its season with a bang, scoring six runs in the top of the first inning en route to a 15-5, 5-inning victory at Karns City Saturday despite not practicing all week with the school holding virtual classes because of COVID-19 concerns.

DuBOIS — The last time a DuBois Central Catholic softball team stepped on the field for a game, the Lady Cardinals were playing in the school’s first-ever PIAA Class A state championship game against Williams Valley on June 14, 2019.
