HYDE — The highly anticipated showdown between state volleyball powers Clarion and Northern Cambria in the PIAA Class A semifinals lived up the the hype Tuesday night at Clearfield Area High School.

HYDE — Two storied volleyball programs meet on the court Tuesday night in the PIAA Class A semifinals, when Clarion and defending state champion Northern Cambria clash at Clearfield High School with a berth in the state finals on the line.

PITTSBURGH — Two teams with much different state playoff experience squared off on Tuesday at Shaler High School in the first round of the PIAA Class 2A volleyball championships.

KNOX — DuBois saw yet another strong season come to an end in the opening round of the PIAA Class 3A playoffs as it was swept 25-14, 25-10, 25-17 by Thomas Jefferson at Keystone High School Tuesday.

KNOX — After trailing just once in the opening two sets on its way to 25-18 and 25-19 wins, Clarion looked to finish off a sweep with a third set victory in Tuesday’s PIAA Class A opener against Saegertown at Keystone High School.

ST. MARYS — Elk County Catholic trailed by as many as 10 points at 18-8 to visiting Cranberry in the opening set of Thursday’s District 9 Class A semifinal match before storming back just to fall short 25-13.

ST. MARYS — Leading two sets to one, eighth-seeded Johnsonburg was on the verge of pulling off an opening round upset over top-seeded Elk County Catholic in the opening round of the District 9 Class A playoffs Tuesday night.

BROOKVILLE — Trying its best to tune up for the postseason, the Brookville Lady Raiders volleyball team shook off a slow start on Senior Night to beat St. Marys in four sets Thursday night.

DuBOIS — After winning the opening set 25-16, DuBois found itself trailing 18-11 in the second set of its season finale at home against Karns City Wednesday night.

DuBOIS — The DuBois volleyball program honored its large, and highly successful senior class Tuesday night prior to its match against Brockway, then that group went out and led the Lady Beavers to sweep of the Lady Rovers, 25-15, 25-8, 25-11.
