DuBois hosted the The Pennsylvania State Interscholastic Rifle & International Air Rifle meet late last week, and the Beavers came away with a pair of state titles and three other Top 3 finishes at the event.

DuBois dominated the air rifle competition, taking home both the team and indivudual state titles.

The Beavers posted a team score of 1530 to edge second-place Conemaugh Township (1524) by six points. Everett came in the third (1517) while DuBois Central Catholic was fourth.

DuBois senior Abigail Zeitler shot a 391 to take home the individual state title in the air rifle competition. She bested Derry Area’s Katie Frye (389) by two points for the gold medal.

Zeitler’s teammate and fellow senior Rachel Sprague was right on Frye’s heels with a 388 to place third.

DuBois’ run to the state team title was aided by the efforts of Keith Fatula (379) and Alex Long (372). Fatula finished 11th as an individual, while Long was 21st.

When it came to the 3P Smallbore event, Everett captured its second straight state team title with a score of 2242. Conemaugh Township (2239) and DuBois (2222) placed second and third, respectively.

Those three schools finished in the same order in last year’s team standings in the state smallbore competition.

Northwestern Lehigh’s Madilyn Riegel captured the smallbore individual state crown with a score of 573-21, edging out Trinity’s Cailey Dahlquist (573-20). DuBois’ Sprague took home the bronze medal with a 567-13.

DuBois’ other three shooters in smallbore were the same as in air rifle, with Zeitler (564), Fatula (559) and Long (5320 all competing. Zeitler placed sixth in the individual standings, while Fatula and Long were 11th and 35th, respectively.
