NEW BETHLEHEM – What do an Easter Island head, a wise owl and a stack of inspirational toy blocks have in common? If you’re walking along the Redbank Valley Trail in the near future, you might just run into one or all of these things in the New Bethlehem and surrounding areas.
As their efforts of trail beautification continue, the Redbank Valley Trails Association (RVTA) recently gave the green light for three larger than life steel welded sculptures — an Easter Island head, “Hoot” the owl and a stack of inspirational toy blocks — to be placed in various locations along the trail.
“We’ve been working on developing the trail for a long time, but we thought we could add to it by putting art along the trail,” RVTA president Sandy Mateer said last week as the latter two sculptures officially made their appearance in New Bethlehem, temporarily sitting on either side of the Easter Island head in her front yard.
