Charitable Deeds and Services helps the poor and needy in Clarion, Venango and Forest counties. We have now started our 16th Annual Utility Campaign for the poor and needy. There are so many families out there without electric, gas and water. I can’t believe this is happening in the United States of America. We continue to raise money each and every day, but it is not enough to keep up with the increasing need. If you have ever thought that some day it was time to give back because the Good Lord has been so good to you, now is that time.
Charitable Deeds has 1,000-plus members, and no expenses, no administration fees and no one gets paid. There is a local family that takes care of all the expenses that we may incur. Because of this, we can give back 100 percent of what we raise to help the poor and needy.
We are now pleading to the public, businesses, churches and other organizations to help with this campaign. You can send your donations to: Charitable Deeds and Services, 98 Hickory Nut Lane, Knox, PA 16232. For more information, call (814) 221-9966.
In 16 years of helping the poor and needy, we have yet to turn anyone away that needed our help, if they were worthy. We have a two-week waiting list of families who need help when we raise enough money to do so. As the weather turns colder, this list is going to get longer and longer. Please pray to the Good Lord about this, and please pray to him that we may be able to take care of all those seeking Charitable Deeds’ help.
In addition to helping people with utility bills, we also give free clothes, furniture, appliances and household items.
We are also holding an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Wolf’s Den in Knox from 3:30 to 7 p.m. All proceeds go to benefit the winter utility campaign.
