PARKER Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith of Parker will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on November 22, 2017.
They were married in St. Richard’s Church in Rimersburg on November 22, 1967.
The couple are parents of three children, Marty Best and her husband, Bill, of Emlenton, Jenny McGinnis and her husband, Mike, of Parker, and Jesse Smith and his wife, Esther, of Punxsutawney. The family also includes four grandchildren, Will Best of Pittsburgh, Libby Best, a student at Houghton College in New York, and Ashley Mains and Thomas Smith, both of Punxsutawney.
Mr. Smith enjoys always being outside either tending the garden, mowing two acres of grass with a push mower, cutting, splitting and hauling in the winter heating supply of firewood or sweeping the snow away in the winter.
Mrs. Smith spends her time crocheting. This past year she made red rose doilies for each of her 44 great-nieces and nephews, finished her 407th afghan and made over 500 hats for Caps for Kids.
Together the couple enjoys watching westerns and watching for the International Space Station fly-bys.
They attend the Concord Presbyterian Church and the Mt. Hope Church in Conneration.
