CLARION – The Clarion Free Library is taking over the bar at Clarion River Brewing Company with its own bartenders on Thursday, June 8 — and keeping the tips during that time to raise funds for the library.
Bartenders including local business owners, Clarion University personal, a medical doctor and even Immaculate Conception Parish priest Father Monty will work in teams of two for 30-minute shifts. Everyone is invited for a party at the bar that will help support the Clarion Free Library’s plans to update its wireless server capacity and continue repairs on its historic building.
“The building is old and has required additional funding to maintain this year due to flooding and some vandalism. Events like this one help us financially support the building and have the means to continue investing in new updates and technologies,” said Clarion Free Library Executive Director and Clarion Mayor Dan Parker.
Clarion River Brewing Company is located at 600 Main Street in Clarion.
The guest bartender schedule includes:
• 5 to 5:30 p.m. — Michael Patton and Sara Seidle.
• 5:30 to 6 p.m. — Drew Welsh and Dawn Miller.
• 6 to 6:30 p.m. — Nancee Miles and Father Monty.
• 6:30 to 7 p.m. — John Scott Port and Teresa Lapinto.
• 7 to 7:30 p.m. — Hope Warner and Christopher Moore.
• 7:30 to 8 p.m. — Jamie Phillips and Ed Powers.
• 8 to 8:30 p.m. — Conrad Warner and Jessica Carbaugh.
• 8:30 to 9 p.m. — Kent Pope and Melanie Wilshire.
Because the Clarion Free Library is a nonprofit organization, any tips paid by check are tax-deductible. Guests can write the name of their favorite bartender on the check’s memo line, and the bartender who receives the most tips via check will win a prize.
Supporters who cannot attend but would like to leave a tip anyway, may do so at the Clarion Free Library website via Paypal, noting the bartender’s name in the special instructions section on the site if the donation is to support a particular bartender.
Also, during the event, guests who enjoy dinning at Clarion River Brewing Company will have a percent of their total donated to the Clarion Free Library by the business.
Professional staff bartenders from Clarion River Brewing Company will be behind the bar to aid guest bartenders in the preparation of drafts and cocktails.
“We’re really grateful to Clarion River Brewing Company for inviting the library to have this event in their pub,” Parker continued. “We’re also really grateful to all of our volunteer bartenders for donating their time, and to everyone who comes out to join us.”
