NEW BETHLEHEM — Completing a home-and-home split, the Redbank Valley and Union basketball teams finished off a 1-1 season against each other after two varsity doubleheaders.
After losing both games at Union back in December, Redbank Valley won on its home court last Wednesday. The Lady Bulldogs won the girls’ game, 57-36, while the Bulldogs avenged their first loss with a convincing 74-46 win.
In the girls’ game, Lexi Holt’s 15 points led a trio of double-figure scorers with Lauren Smith and Tara Hinderliter added 13 and 11 points respectively. Kelsie Elmer added nine points.
The Lady Bulldogs led 24-19 at halftime and pushed the lead into double digits with a 14-6 third-quarter edge.
Frankee Remmick carried the Damsels with 22 points. Morgan Cumberland and Marli Hawk each scored six points.
In the boys’ game, the Bulldogs poured in a season-high 74 points and reversed a three-point loss at Union in their first meeting. The Bulldogs led 35-19 at halftime, then pulled away with a 39-point second half.
For the Bulldogs, Keaton Kahle scored a career-high 24 points, sinking 15 of 19 free throws. Nick Smith and Brock Barrett scored 19 and 12 points respectively.
Lucas Bowser scored 18 points and Luke Bowser added seven points for the Knights.
