DuBOIS — In May 2017, Alex E. Allender, son of Patty and Bob Luisi and Charlie Allender of DuBois, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Edinboro University with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education with teacher’s certification.

He remained on the dean’s list all four years while attending Edinboro University. Allender also was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army – Quartermaster Corps and is serving on active duty.

He joined and contracted in Edinboro University’s ROTC program in 2013. While in ROTC, he completed the Army Ten Miler twice, German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge and Ranger Challenge Teams. He also participated in the Cultural Understanding Language Proficiency program, which took him to the Czech Republic. He also graduated from Airborne School. He was awarded with the Distinguished Military Graduate Award, Platinum PT Award, and the American Legion Scholastic Excellence Award.

Lt. Alexander’s next duty assignment will be in Germany this fall.
