I’d like to respond to Bob Mortland’s letter from the Jan. 21 edition of the Tri-County Sunday, which suggested the AP stories should “get upgraded" to reflect a bias toward his political point of view. As someone who is politically moderate, I enjoy the AP national news precisely because it contains little bias and just reports the facts – as news should do. Please do not change the AP stories just because Mr. Mortland wants to hear his own political views echoed back to him. Some of us actually want to read the news sections of the newspaper for news. Reporting facts is what the news media and the AP do. Rather than screaming “fake news” if those facts don’t support our viewpoints, we should embrace a free press which allows us to learn what is going on in the world around us.
