DuBOIS — Mr. and Mrs. James E. North, of DuBois, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2016.
Joan Amundsen and James North were united in marriage April 12, 1956, at the United Methodist Church parsonage in Brockway by the Rev. Henry J. Masman.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, having been stationed in Korea with the Third Recon, Third Infantry Division. He is retired from the City of DuBois where he was in charge of engineering projects and was the director of Public Works. He was also the owner of North Surveying of DuBois and a partner of DuBois Engineering Inc.
She was a licensed beautician, having graduated in 1955 from Orra-Jean Beauty School in Erie and she also worked for Bell Telephone Co. of Pennsylvania as an operator and service representative.
They attend First Baptist Church of DuBois where she has been active in church choir, bell chime choir and deaf and hearing choir and both have been active in the church AWANA Club and have served as Sunday School teachers.
They have two children, Mark E. North, of Akron, Ohio, and Valerie A. Kucenski, of DuBois, and have three grandsons.
